Saints vs Rushden & Higham (Away)

Saints took to the park on Saturday against an entirely different Rushden and Higham side to the one they faced at the Common earlier in the season.

In typical Saints fashion they were the first to concede on the day - falling 14-0 down in 20 minutes and only deciding to challenge the home side on the 30 minute mark. After smart, phase building work Saints cleared the way for Rory Dingemans to open the account for the day. 14-5.

Feeling like they were in the ascendency, Saints allowed Rushden to score on the counter-attack before Aiden Jordan raced clear following a smart interception touching down 90 meters up field with Joe Woodgate adding the extras to make it 21-12 at half time.

From the kick off, Saints turned the ball over at the breakdown and were awarded a penalty which Joe Woodgate swiftly knocked over. 21-12.

A little glimpse of hope in the Saints rank saw Aiden Jordan score his second of the day in the corner with Woodgate, unbelievably, adding the extras again. 21-22.

Having established themselves in the game and dominating the forwards, Saints had just about run out of steam. Some 50/50 calls weren't going their way and Rushden scored on the break once again.

Final score Rushden and Higham 37-22 Saints. There was a penalty in there somewhere and the maths doesn't make sense but it's been a struggle to remember the details. Video highlights to follow!
