Disappointment Grows Over Dog Fouling on Rugby Common

Local rugby players, both children and adults, are expressing disappointment as dog poo continues to be left on the common, where they regularly train and play matches. Despite clear signage and bins, some dog owners are failing to clean up after their pets, causing a hazard for those using the space for sport and recreation.

"It's frustrating and dangerous," one player said. "This is a place where we practice and compete, and it’s not safe to have dog mess scattered across the field."

The rugby club is urging all dog owners to act responsibly by picking up after their pets and ensuring the common remains clean for everyone. The club is also encouraging the community to speak up if they witness someone leaving dog mess behind.

“Challenge them,” said club Chair Paul Warmington. “It’s about keeping this space safe and enjoyable for all who use it.”

Dog owners are reminded that failing to pick up after their pets not only poses a health risk but is also an offence. The rugby club and local authorities are working together to address the issue, but the responsibility ultimately lies with the owners. Let’s keep our common clean and safe for everyone.
