Saints and Devs Dominate with Second-Half Surges

St Neots Devs vs. Bedford Swifts

St Neots Rugby Club’s development side hosted Bedford Swifts on Saturday in an exciting match. The Swifts made an early statement, capitalizing on powerful forward play to take the lead. However, St Neots responded swiftly, with Adam Arnold displaying impressive pace and footwork to slice through the Swifts' defence. A brief lapse from St Neots allowed the Swifts to score under the posts, but Will Burke quickly replied with a well-taken try to keep the contest tight. The half-time score stood at 14-12.

St Neots started the second half with renewed energy, and it wasn't long before Adam Arnold crossed the line for his second try, following a quick ball from a ruck just 10 meters out. With momentum building, St Neots began to dominate, applying relentless pressure on the Swifts. The floodgates opened with a clinical finish from Lewis Hall, followed by another superb try from Will Burke, set up by a blistering break and pinpoint pass from Reece Hughes. As the Swifts struggled to keep pace with St Neots’ intensity, the home side crossed the line once again, sealing a commanding victory.

Final score: 40-12. A solid all-around performance from St Neots.

Saints vs Northampton BBOBs

Despite a last-minute setback with Will Bateman suffering a dislocated shoulder in the warm-up, the Saints took to the field in high spirits after another strong week of training.

The Saints wasted no time asserting their speed and dominance, with some sharp interlinking play leading to two quick tries from Rory Dingemans, one of which was converted by Sam Noble.

However, BBOB gradually grew into the game, and Saints' ill-discipline allowed them back into the contest, levelling the score at 12-12.

The match turned into a tense stalemate, with both sides exchanging penalties—BBOB’s kicker and Sam Noble trading blows to bring the score to 15-15.

The deadlock was finally broken by the quick thinking and agility of Jack Webb, who set up Rory for his third try of the day, sealing a 22-15 victory for the Saints.

It wasn't the prettiest of performances, and at times the Saints were their own worst enemy. Nonetheless, both players and coaches were pleased to come away with the win and are eager to build on this result in their upcoming clash against Brackley next week.
