Saints took to the Cup fixture against Bourne like a group of young lads taking on breakfast at the local Wetherspoons. First to arrive at the feast was Joe Woodgate, closely followed by Rhod Howcroft. Jordan Rook was slightly late to the party but soldiered into contact with his Eggs Benedict like a true champ. Outraged at the absence of any deep-fried items with his Full English, Stuart Whitelaw took his frustrations out on his opposition. Egged on by Nick Ashford, the Scotsman tucked in to his continental option like a rabid dog. Ashford looked to be a creative force at the table with the inclusion of lashings of brown sauce but it was Player Coach Johnny Berwick’s time to shine and show the Woo how it’s done. Rumours of Bourne withdrawing from the fixture were confirmed when JB’s double-bluff small breakfast arrived. Ridiculous scenes.
The Saints will look to make toast of their opposition next Saturday as they travel to Stamford, their first time on the road in either League or Cup for almost a month.
