Heathens face a tough test at Stuart & Lloyds

With limited preparation, and a numerous players out of position, St Neots came out second best to a well-organised and experienced S&L Vets side. St Neots were slow out of the blocks, allowing the home side to run in a couple of early tries, but as the first half began to draw to a close better phase play, and good handling, began to demonstrate what this squad was capable of. Against a tiring side, St Neots struck back with three well-worked tries in the second half. The pack, made up 5 back-rows, a second-row, a centre and a winger was somewhat make-shift but were mobile and began to attack from everywhere, building a strong platform. After good hands through the centres, Reece Gratton was sent storming away to open the account. George Osbourne brought a fizz to the backline, and after numerous half-breaks, eventually strolled over the line with 10 minutes to go. The game continued to break up, with Lewis Medlow and his body double Lee Bedford punching gaps, giving more opportunities for the silky handed backs to show off their talents. A third try, possibly from club captain Woo, who popped from literally nowhere, gave St Neots the hunger to push for what had seemed an unlikely victory. It was not to be, and a late burst saw the opposition build possession in St Neots 22, and add a fifth try to their tally for the day. A final score of 27-19 was tough to take after the dominance of the second half, but it highlights the need to turn up switched on and ready to take the match to the opposition.
