After a well-earned half-term break, the St Neots U16s returned to the field with renewed energy, facing Northampton Casuals in a competitive friendly. The recent weeks of focused training had sharpened their skills, and the players were keen to put their hard work into practice. Casuals, equally prepared for a competitive match, pushed St Neots from the start, setting up an intense first half as both sides traded tries. With both teams committed to running the ball into space, it became clear that defensive resilience would be key to securing the win.

From the first whistle, St Neots set a strong tempo, showcasing the structured and dynamic play they’d worked on in training. Their disciplined ball movement created openings, as they shifted the play from the breakdown into wide channels with precision, allowing their wingers to capitalise on every available inch of space.

The first half wrapped up on a nearly even footing, promising an exciting second half ahead. Casuals started strong after the break, scoring immediately to take the lead. However, this would be their last crossing of the St Neots try line, as the fitness and teamwork of St Neots began to shine through. With determination and focus, St Neots quickly ran in two tries of their own, seizing control of the game and refusing to let Casuals back into contention.
