St neots v Leighton Buzzard

Today we hosted Leighton Buzzard to the common for what was our first home game of the season.
Leighton buzzard had strong numbers (26 players) so we knew they would have the edge against our 13 players today but The lads knew this and embraced the up hill challenge ahead.
Leighton Buzzard started strong and caught our defensive line off guard with a quick run through the pack to be first on the score board. A second very similar followed.
Saints then started to realise what they needed to do and started to introduce the pod work they had been working on in training.
As the pods started to work together, building their confidence with carrying into contact, this teamed with some good decisions from the fly half meant the space was exploited with some good running from the number 11 and getting the saints first try of the season on the board.
This pumped the boys up and showed the visitors we had showed up.
The forwards carried on to show improved pod work and ball carrying but Leighton buzzard managed to get a couple more tries in through the middle with Saints narrowly missing tackles.
As we went into the second half the saints started to feel tired but they kept on battling even though the visitors made many replacements to fresh legs. A couple of strong scrums from the visitors opened up space for them to get a couple more tries on the board. But after a quick tap and go on our 22 caught the visitors off guard and meant the number 11 ran the full pitch being chased down to score the the saints 3rd try of the game.
Saints tired quickly and was great-full for the final whistle.

Overall Lots of improvement from last weeks game with improved team work, improved confidence from the forwards and trust with the game we want them to play and exploiting the space it creates.
