St Neots U14's were back in action for the first games of the season at the Cambridgeshire Youth Rugby festival hosted by Cambridge.
SNRUFC U14,s were looking forward to getting back into their rugby after an enjoyable off season and with a few weeks of training under their belt they were keen to measure themselves against their peers. The U14's have retained much of last seasons squad and were looking forward to playing on a full pitch with 15 men for the first time.
The CYR festival is a great way of starting the season with some competitive, friendly, rugby against local teams. SNRUFC played games against Cambridge, Ely and Huntingdon.
All games were very competitive with some great play from all teams. The SNRUFC U14's used it as an opportunity to try different positions for much of the squad, the lineout was introduced for the first time as well as a full 8 man scrum. There was some great individual moments but overall the SNRUFC U14's coaches were most impressed with the overall team performance and just how the squad have carried their team spirit from last season into this one. SNRUFC came out on top over Cambridge and Huntingdon and frustratingly loosing to Ely in the last play of the game.
Try scorers - Josh Loughnane, Eddie Spencer, Aiden Wyse, Matt Needham and Noah Warmington
Thanks go to Cambridge for organising, hosting and supplying referees for all games.
